Aug | Show Me the Door Touring, Judging, and Awards Ceremony | 10AM-4:30PM
For the last two months, as a first step to beautify the town and to begin the Warwick in Bloom expansion-awareness campaign, residents and business owners have been encouraged to join in a doorway adornment contest called Show Me the Door. The contest is being sponsored by Warwick in Bloom and Our House Home and Leisure Magazine. Participants can showcase their gardening and decorating talents for the areas surrounding their doors, gates or other entryways. Warwick in Bloom, winner of the 2003 America in Bloom competition, is gearing up for another attempt at the national competition. The organization, which is based in the Village of Warwick, is branching out to include the Villages of Greenwood Lake and Florida and the Pine Island hamlet. This larger contingent will compete in the 2010 America in Bloom Competition. Doors will be viewed on Aug. 1 by a panel of judges from the Warwick in Bloom committee. Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place in each category (business and residential) in each of the three villages and the hamlet of Pine Island. The public is invited to view the contest entries as well. Maps will be available for purchase on Aug. 1 at Railroad Green in the Village of Warwick. Maps will be sold for $10 and will provide a self-guided tour of all entries in the Town of Warwick. Touring and judging will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. followed by an awards ceremony back on Railroad Green at 4:30 p.m. For information or questions regarding entering the Warwick in Bloom Show Me The Door competition log onto www.warwickinfo.net/wib or call Deborah Krol at 988-9621.
