Warwick's First Land Awareness Day - May 1, 2005 - Hosted by Warwick-in-Bloom Master Gardeners
The first "Land Awarenss Day" on Sunday, May1 was described as "inspirational" by one of the participants. Three Master Gardeners, and several people with knowledge of the history of the Lewis Woodlands participated in the two guided tours of Warwick’s "hidden" park. Actually, it’s hiding in plain sight at the end of Robin Brae Ave just off Maple Ave in the Village of Warwick.

It was the formal garden of the Fowler Estate, built in the 1880s as one of Warwick’s many mansions. Residents Hopi Lewis, Jean May and Mayor Michael Newhard can remember playing in the gardens or the ruins of the gardens as children.

The Tour, sponsored by Warwick-in-Bloom and the Warwick Conservancy, was filled with enough historical and woodland information to fill a small notebook. Of particular interest were the ruins of the earlier structures, a well, a bridge and the site of a few gazebos.
