Warwick's First Land Awareness Day - May 1, 2005 - Mayor Newhard Leads Tour into Woodlands
For gardeners, the Tour was a delight of spring ephemerals, an unusual variety of viburnum and lots and lots of "invasives"---barberry, vinca, garlic onion, wisteria and honeysuckle--which chase out the native plants.

In quantity were the "rams," a native wild growing member of the onion family which is prized as a delicacy and even made the focus of festivals in other parts of the United States

Warwck-in-Bloom co-chair and Master Gardener, Heidi Hamilton, together with fellow Master Gardeners Bob Savage and Bob Pioselli, helped conduct the tours. Meanwhile, Mayor Michael Newhard provided historical information for the group, along with Steve Gross who shared his rare collection of photos and postcards of the Lewis Woodlands.
